Significant legislation in the area of criminal justice in relation to adult offenders includes the Criminal Justice Acts of 1993, 1999, 2006 (amended 2007 and 2009); Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008; Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2006 (amended 2007); Criminal Law (Insanity) Act 2006; the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act of 1998; the Sex Offenders Act, 2001.
In relation to juvenile offenders, childcare legislation as referred to in the previous section is relevant, with particular reference to the Children Act, 2001.
